Physical Characteristics
Male is brilliant golden-yellow with black wings and tail. Female is more subdued, greenish-yellow, aiding camouflage at the nest.

The Eurasian Golden Oriole is the golden jewel of Delta forests. Although brightly coloured, it is hard to see as it remains hidden in the dense canopy of tall trees.

Prefers poplar and willow gallery woodland and ridge forests. A migrant that arrives late, when foliage is fully developed.
A major consumer of hairy caterpillars, very beneficial to woodland. Its song is a melodic whistle, "fi-lo-li-lo", heralding hot summer days.
LC. The Danube Delta provides optimal habitats for this species, which avoids areas of intensive agriculture and pesticides.
